About the Author
Fabrizia Berlingieri was born in Cosenza in 1979 and graduated in Architecture in Reggio Calabria in 2003.Her education has an international dimension. In 2001, she studied at the Universidade Técnica de Lisboa as an Erasmus student. In 2003, she won the national Francesco Bornonini scholarship at the Mendrisio Academy of Architecture. In 2006, she was selected for the postgraduate programme Transitional Spaces at the Bauhaus Institute in Dessau. In 2007, she earned a PhD in Architectural Design and Urban Studies in Reggio Calabria, where she worked with Professor Laura Thermes and taught as an adjunct lecturer. In 2012, she was a postdoctoral researcher in the Department of Architecture at TU Delft. Her work and writing have appeared in exhibitions, catalogues and journals in Italy and internationally.
BAS — Berlingieri Architetti StudioBased in Rende, in the province of Cosenza, the studio works on architecture at different scales. Far from seeking manifestos or preconceived ideas about its own practice, the studio approaches design as a shared poetic endeavour. Its work is guided by an ongoing pursuit of methodological rigour and integrity in construction, qualities reflected in both its formal and expressive aspects.
Since 2007, the studio’s research, led by Fabrizia Berlingieri, has engaged with the national and international architectural scene. It has received awards and recognition, including second place in the international Under 40 Europan 9 Finland competition, a commendation in the competition for the Levante waterfront in Syracuse, and first prize in the International Competition for Infrastructure for the Third Millennium.
