Ten years after its launch, Occupy W.C. continues its journey. More than one hundred performers from over twenty countries have taken part in the project, bringing their work to more than fifty locations around the world, including museums, airports, railway stations and public spaces.
Through interventions and QR codes, Occupy W.C. transforms toilets into unconventional exhibition spaces, offering an ironic, provocative and divergent perspective on reality.

The video Everyone Has Got Their Reasons revisits and highlights, through the voices of people from different parts of the world, Jean Renoir’s line: “There is one terrible thing on this earth: everyone has their reasons,” from the film The Rules of the Game (1939).
This performance is currently taking place in the toilets of numerous public and private institutions around the world.
Inspired by the words of Cuban artist Salvador González Escalona, Occupy W.C. created a project in which Time becomes Poetry.
Alexander Beatón Galano, Pedro Gutiérrez Torres and José Ramón Sánchez Leyva portray contemporary Cuba through art, identity and poetry.
But poetry also becomes testimony: Poetry of Death and The Black Arrow / The Darkness of Prison were written by prisoners detained and tortured at the U.S. military prison at Guantánamo Bay.
Climate Change Septet celebrates ten years of Occupy W.C. with a reflection on climate change, artificial intelligence and communication.
Contributions by Marco Grasso, Cristiano De Nobili and Luciano Pes engage in dialogue with AI-generated provocations by Emma Fai and James Nemo.
The public toilet thus becomes a laboratory for exploring the boundary between reality and fiction, beyond the filters of the mainstream perspective.
The Occupy W.C. experience at the 2014 Venice Architecture Biennale begins in the toilets and continues online. Eighteen young architects present their work in dialogue with Fundamentals, the theme chosen by Rem Koolhaas, offering a perspective on Italian architecture beyond the world of starchitects.
The project is complemented by the critical reflections of Luigi Prestinenza Puglisi, Luciano Pes and Simona Campus, broadening the debate on contemporary architecture, culture and society.
